Vote Yes on Prop 487
A well-educated community is the key to a vibrant economy and AJUSD is a critical partner in this effort. Our students are our future workforce; investing in our schools is an investment in our community and economic development. Please vote YES on Prop 487, the AJUSD Bond.
Chip Wilson
Apache Junction Mayor
A vote in favor of the bond will help ensure that our students are provided with the same opportunities and advantages of children in surrounding districts. Moreover, based on current home values, passing this bond will allow for necessary school improvements without increasing our current tax rate.
Dena Kimble
AJUSD Governing Board President
Our district has been able to secure non-guaranteed state grants for some building maintenance over the last 4 years. Unfortunately, there are critical maintenance needs, such as aging HVAC units, remaining that will receive no additional state funding. Voting YES on Prop 487 ensures that, in the long run, money is saved, tempers aren’t flared, and children can learn!
Gilbert K. Cancio
Vice President, AJUSD Governing Board
Investing in our schools is an investment in our future. A good school rating improves our property values and children’s lives. New leadership is greatly improving curriculum to advance the education of our graduates and grow our student population. There is also a strong commitment to publicly report the progress and accounting of bond monies for all to see.

AJUSD Governing Board Member
As a local business owner and former city council member, I understand what it takes to maintain public and private assets such as heating and cooling systems, roofs and flooring, and technology upgrades. The state legislature has not fully funded these needs in our district for over ten years. Please join me in voting YES on Prop 487 to ensure the future success of our local economy.

We want our students to be in a safe and welcoming school environment that allows for high academic achievement. We are a growing community and when we join together as one community, our families, businesses and residents will all come out as winners.

AJUSD School Board Member
We currently have a school board and superintendent that are strongly committed to improve education and safety. This bond will enhance security systems and make structural improvements to outdated buildings, bathrooms and locker rooms. I have never voted to support a bond initiative, but this time I will vote YES on Prop 487.

The bond is essential for enhancing the safety, security, and overall quality of our schools. Our children deserve a safe and modern learning environment, and this bond will make that possible. Let’s come together to vote YES on Prop 487.

Throughout my 30-year career, I saw firsthand the impact of outdated infrastructure on our students’ learning environment. By voting YES on Prop 487, we are investing in the infrastructure necessary for our educators and students to excel academically and personally, as well as to show our community’s commitment to academic excellence.
Doug Coleman
Retired AJUSD Teacher
Our district has done an excellent job in recent years to maximize funds available through the state-run School Facilities Board; however, there remains a severe gap in appropriate funding that has caused deteriorating facilities, technology shortfalls, and unsafe security systems. By voting YES on Prop 487 we will send a clear message to our youth that they are important to us, they are worthy of our investment, and we believe in their future.
